The ingredients most commonly found in cosmetics and food supplements, briefly explained: what they are, what they help with, and what is worth knowing before using them.
Taking care of your skin does not mean following rigid rules, but understanding your own needs. We hope that, as you go through this Glossary, you gain the clarity you need to make conscious, gentle choices for yourself. It is essential for every step in your daily routine to become a small ritual of calm, and for the products you choose to bring you not only visible results, but also the joy of feeling wonderful in your own skin.
The mission of Life Pro Science is to make your choices simpler and safer. This does not mean promising results, but reducing confusion. We aim to provide educational content directly connected to products and ingredients, so that anyone who visits the Site is not pushed toward buying now, but naturally reaches an informed decision.
We prepared this document as a glossary of the most commonly used ingredients in the formulation of cosmetics and food supplements. For each ingredient, the common name, the official INCI nomenclature (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients, a standardized system of unique names used to identify ingredients in cosmetic and personal care products on product labels), the description, specific benefits, and relevant special warnings are provided.
Our recommendation is to read product labels every time: for example, always review the INCI list on cosmetic products (which must be written in English), noting that ingredients are listed in descending order by concentration, down to the 1% threshold. For more information about the INCI list, we invite you to visit the content Library on the Site to read the article Ingredient Guide: How to Read a Label - from the INCI List to Concentrations and Synthetic Forms.
We hope our information helps you and, whenever you have questions about ingredients, try to do your research, especially before purchasing products.
